Questions? I’ve got you

  • I’m grateful I get to work with clients from all over the world! 🌍 I’m able to work with clients internationally, including: the Americas, Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand (especially as it relates to access to supplementation and functional labs)

If you have questions about whether or not we might be able to work together based on your location, you can send me an email at hello@miagiommi.com

  • My phiolosphy as far as supplements go, is this: I believe that supplements come second to (or may be used in conjunction with), developing strong, supportive nutrition and lifestyle foundations. They can be helpful to address imbalances and fill in any “gaps” that may help us move the needle in your health.

If I’m running labs with clients, supplementation is typically part of the targeted protocols we’ll developed, but are used for a limited time period & for a specific purpose.

It’s important to me that I meet clients where they’re at (both from a logistics and from a financial perspective!), so it’s always a frank conversation that you and I would have prior to starting our work together 🤠

  • I love using functional labs as a tool in my practice to help clients get to the bottom of what’s going on with their guts!

I’m able to run a variety of labs, and my recommendations will depend on the client and their case presentations, but some of the common ones I run for clients are:

    - GI MAP stool test

    - DUTCH hormone test

    - HTMA

Other tests like SIBO, OAT, etc. are also tests that I may run in addition to these labs. I am also able to look at bloodwork that my clients often have run through their PCP! (For clients in the USA there are certain blood panels that I can order, like a comprehensive thyroid panel, as well)

  • While I don’t believe functional labs are a must for everyone (your nutrition and lifestyle fundamentals need to be the starting place!!), they can be helpful for a few reasons:

    1) they can help identify imbalances, infections, and healing opportunities (esp. for people who’ve been trying all-of-the-things to heal their symptoms & just aren’t getting anywhere)

    2) they provide tangible data that not only is validating for you as the client, but provides us with information we’ll use to inform our process moving forward

It’s always something I chat with clients about, so we can definitely have a conversation about which testing option might be the most strategic for you & your case!

  • Long story short: no! It’s *very* seldom that I use restrictive diets with clients — I prefer to keep in as many foods as possible. I’ve found that restrictive diets tend to be challenging to follow, and stressful (which IMHO is likely worse for your gut 🙃)

In very specific scenarios — complex cases, or severe symptoms — there may be a time and place to use therapeutic diets to take stress off the body and reduce symptoms.

Again, this is something we’d always have an open and honest conversation about, but I try to avoid any sort of restrictive eating in practice!

  • Through the education and certifications I have, I’m able to work with clients on their nutrition and lifestyle, requisition functional lab tests, and make supplemental and herbal recommendations for specific purposes.

I am not however, able to diagnose or treat diseases (these are of course outside of my scope of practice), nor am I able to requisition medications, or recommend a client come off their medication (though I can recommend a conversation with their GP).

One of my favourite parts of the work that I get to do with clients is how we’re able to pull back the layers, dive deep together, and spend time together. Time that’s usually not afforded in other allopathic medical systems.

I love being able to work with my clients adjacent to their GP, doctor, and other health professionals to create a well-rounded care team.

The coaching, deep-diving, course-correcting, foundation-building elements are why I think my work with clients is so successful.

  • I work with pregnant and breastfeeding women purely via nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. We can still focus on important foundations to support you & your gut health at this time!

However, as an IBS and Gut Health Nutritionist — if you’re interested in my work due to digestive symptoms that may warrant functional labs or supplement protocols, it’ll be best to wait until you are postpartum and finished breastfeeding, as many herbs, products, and certain lifestyle interventions are contraindicated.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to me at hello@miagiommi.com with any questions!
